About Jonathan Cohen

Treasury and Finance expert with a focus on solving complex financial challenges and leading on strategic implementations.FCT (Treasury) and FCA (Accounting) qualified, with nearly 20 years of financial experience, having worked in the Treasury department at National Grid for 11 years (including the US for four years) and at BDO within Financial Services Audit for 6 years. At National Grid I started with the Corporate Banking team, looking after the banking relationships, bank facilities, debt investors, credit ratings and pensions related financing. I then moved into the Debt Capital Markets team, managing the funding requirements of the Group and hedging the associated interest rate and currency risks. In this role I led the securitisation for the sale of the Gas Distribution business. Subsequently, I moved to New York, ensuring National Grid finance their US businesses efficiently within the regulation we operate under. During my four years in the US, we spent 2 years developing a complex financial model to adjust funding plans and drive an additional $50m of bottom line profit for National Grid on an annual basis.My next role was at Pearson where I looked after the Treasury and Insurance teams, as well as executing on Enterprise Risk Management activities across the business.
