I'm a data scientist and software engineer committed to working on solutions and policy to address the climate crisis.I spent the first few years of my career working in public health to help us better understand the pandemic. When I began my covid work in 2020, I viewed public health and climate as largely discrete domains that both happen to be facing massive, simultaneous crises. With the benefit of a few years of perspective—and especially after advising the Rockefeller Foundation on a public health strategy for a changing climate—I've been shouting from the rooftops that public health and climate are inextricably linked. We cannot be healthy without healing the disastrous impact we’ve had on the climate, and we cannot tackle this vital work if we don’t safeguard our health and wellness in the process.

Advisor, Pandemic Prevention InitiativeThe Rockefeller Foundation Sep 2021 - Feb 2023I advised the Rockefeller Foundation's Pandemic Prevention Initiative on a roadmap for public health in a changing climate to guide the Foundation’s climate efforts. I consulted on the design and launch of a global next-generation sequencing capacity tracker together with FIND. I also advised data and editorial teams and external partners on data visualizations and science communication, with focus on effectiveness and readability. -
Data InfrastructureThe Covid Tracking Project At The Atlantic Oct 2020 - May 2021I built a geocoder and contributed to a processing API for long-term-care data to produce the most comprehensive dataset of US facilities impacted by COVID-19. I implemented an entity resolution algorithm and interface for a 1.5M row GISAID lab-level sequences dataset. I led our screenshot effort: I coded automated screenshots and orchestrated a push to achieve 100% coverage of all 800 testing and outcomes data points collected daily. I wrote clear technical documentation and analysis pieces. At CTP, I worked across six teams and with leadership, onboarded volunteers, led integral data shifts, and organized community events. -
