About Jonathan Havens

My Approach: In my experience, being a therapeutic companion entails supporting a client’s healing process. I have found that fostering this professional relationship with our clients begins with compassionate listening. This is the foundation for trust and rapport, and allows me to begin to understand and comprehend the struggles our client is grappling with. By entering their world, observing, and meeting them where they are at, I find that it allows clients to feel safer. Showing up without judgement for them then allows me to provide support through the course of the case as it unfolds. Throughout this process of living with a client I have found it beneficial to view our clients on a macro level, we are not our struggles. I also rely on mirroring a client’s body language and utilizing humor when appropriate to ease the awkward beginning of a case. Professional Experience: I have experience working with clients with complex diagnosis, and enjoy the challenge of each case. I have worked companion cases with male clients ranging in age from 17-72 years old and with wide range of diagnosis from NPD, OCD, schizoaffective, Alzheimers, SUD, AUD, BP, MDD, ADHD. Drawing on my background that spans across many facets of the mental health and substance abuse treatment field for the past 10 years- including live in companion, case management, interventions, creating and running a successful high end men’s transitional living program- has allowed me to work with clients and families by applying a tailored approach based on their individual needs.

Listed skills include Microsoft Office, Public Speaking, Training, Management, and 6 others.
