Symend applies behavioral science to take customer interactions to the next level and achieve stand out results. Appointed to support the company as it experienced hyper growth. Reporting to the CEO, I was responsible for the marketing, demand generation, revenue, customer success, operations, behavioral science and professional services teams.

Appointed to stabilize key customer contracts, and put the company on ‘a path to growth’ before setting the business up for sale. Doubled revenue within three years, and increased annual growth to over 30%, whilst launching a new product platform, strengthening customer relationships, moving a significant portion of the revenue onto a committed basis and.

Ran all the customer facing operations globally. This included customer front of house, service delivery, global sms operations, technical operations, implementation, platform services, infrastructure, information security and professional services. The remit was to put the company onto a sustainable operational path centered around customer satisfaction.

The company was pivoting towards larger enterprise customers, and the challenge was to increase this customer segment rapidly. Appointed with global responsibilities for coordinating and executing on a plan to sign as many high value prospects as possible whilst driving account growth. In addition, it included responsibility for growing the Asia P&L.

The company was establishing operations in Asia on the back of a successful growth period in Australia. The role was focused on establishing network connectivity in key Asian markets like India, China and Japan along with strengthening capabilities in SE Asia. In addition, was focused on developing relationships with enterprise customers as the company.

The Australian business had been acquired by OpenMarket through an acquisition (MX Telecom) in Spring 2010 and had been underinvested in. Was hired to reenergise operations in the region and to grow the business. Due to the small size, the payment volumes were small incurring higher costs, so the challenge was to both sign customers and grow overall.

Advised the board of Proxama Ltd, this includes the Hypertag Proximity Marketing Services business, which Proxama bought in January 2011.Proxama subsequently changed its name to Location Sciences.

Fully integrated Hypertag within six months.

The challenge was like any start up, to be frugal with resources whilst commercializing the technology, winning the first lighthouse customers and then scaling the business. To do that, multiple investment rounds were needed raising both equity and debt, and it was important to lead from the front on customer engagements.
