Topicus.Healthcare is a division of IT company Topicus from the Netherlands. They build software for the healthcare sector in the Netherlands to give control back to patients and medical experts by shaping information streams and providing everyone insight in the data relevant to them.Within the division, multiple teams work on a number of applications. Around 2019 the operational responsibility for those applications has started to shift from a dedicated operations team towards the development teams themselves.To support development teams in their operational responsibilities our team is developing and maintaining an internal platform that does the heavy lifting necessary to help development teams move their operations to Amazon Web Services' public cloud. We make it easy for teams to deploy databases, applications and other infrastructure in AWS without having to worry about the nitty-gritty details. By standardizing deployments to AWS we enable repeatable, secure and comprehensible operations with minimal operational overhead for teams. For this project I've been able to dive deep into the AWS ecosystem and I've had the opportunity to successfully achieve AWS certification. Other technologies I've worked with include Cloudflare, Python, Kubernetes, Terraform and Jenkins. Our team works agile and is convinced repeatable deployments using infrastructure as code is the way to go.

Proto is the study association for Creative Technology at the University of Twente. Since its inception in 2011 it has grown to over 700 members of which 120 actively participate in committees.During the academic year of 2013-2014 I've paused my study for a year to take place in the board of the association. I've taken the role of Officer Internal Affairs and in that capacity I was responsible for the internal communication, involving members with the association, coordinating the activities and events organised by others and a lot of other logistics.As the association was only two years old, we spend a lot of effort into creating and improving on the groundwork for processes that are now part of the daily operations of the associations. We also had a lot of room to introduce new concepts which we thought would be beneficial to the association. The year saw the creation of a number of committees, most of which are still actively organising events that a lot of members look forward to. The association also had to deal with a reformation of the educational system at the University of Twente, and was actively involved in the feedback process.
