This industry placement involved mainly assisting the building technology team in adding new software features to existing systems, testing existing systems and creating new software. I was able to aid in the development of a complex in-house tool which would drastically improve the productivity of the building technology team in completing their tasks. Through the implementation of GitHub Actions I was able to streamline the testing process of this tool to ensure code reliability. Intense independent resolve and dedication was also shown through the completion of very manual checking and logging of the status of existing systems to ensure that all the cogs at REDS10 were turning. Continuous learning was demonstrated through my exploration of the Angular frontend framework which I had never used before. This experience has solidified my skills not only as a software developer but also in being adaptable to the needs of my team.

Through the creation of a proposal for our selected problem scenario I developed a range of skills including project planning, communication, time management and leadership. I was assigned as the project manager which required me to show firm leadership which in combination with precise planning, clear communication and perfect time management led us to be finalists in this challenge. We were able to present our proposals to senior members of TfL and Cleshar staff and we received an abundance of constructive criticism which has given me and my team members insight into how we can improve in the future.
