For my master’s dissertation, I conducted an in-depth analysis of carbon offsetting as a potential sustainability strategy for the German freight forwarder Craiss. My research assessed the effectiveness of carbon offsets in reducing customer emissions, evaluated how well this strategy aligns with Craiss’s broader environmental goals, and examined customer perspectives on incorporating carbon offsets within Craiss’s service offering. Additionally, I analyzed the role of offsets within the voluntary carbon market, evaluating both their climate mitigation potential and their contributions to broader environmental and social objectives.Through this project, I distilled key insights and presented them to management, providing strategic consultation on customer expectations and highlighting critical limitations within the voluntary carbon market (VCM).
