I am a member of the Queen’s Biomedical Innovation Team's KneeFit Brace Sub-Team, where my primary responsibility is the design and development of the knee brace's physical casing. My role entails ensuring that the brace is both comfortable and durable, capable of securely housing all internal components, and adaptable to different sizes. I collaborate extensively with the electrical sub-team to align the design with component requirements and with the user experience sub-team to meet usability standards. My research focuses on identifying suitable materials, such as neoprene for its skin-safe and firm properties, while exploring the integration of foam and the use of Velcro straps for enhanced adjustability. I leverage SolidWorks for 3D modeling and employ 3D printing to prototype and refine the casing design to achieve a functional and user-friendly final product.

As a junior boat mechanic, I gained hands-on experience performing routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, fuel filter replacements, and cooling system inspections. I also supported engine overhauls, contributing to the disassembly, cleaning, inspection, and reassembly of inboard and outboard engines across a variety of boat types. Throughout my role, I worked closely with senior mechanics and team members to troubleshoot and complete repairs while meeting strict deadlines. My time in this role allowed me to build proficiency with a wide range of hand tools, power tools, and mechanical equipment, while continuously developing my technical skills and knowledge in marine mechanics.

For the past four summers, I have worked for my family’s fishing charter company as the captain’s assistant. In my role, I provided clients with safety tips and fishing techniques, ensured the equipment was in proper condition, and operated the boat. Since my parents are not fluent in English, I was tasked with guiding the English-speaking clients throughout the fishing trip. I was in charge of ensuring guest satisfaction by patiently guiding first-time clients through proper fishing techniques and employing strong communication skills by answering any questions that arose.

The Queens’s Formula SAE team is a multi-disciplinary student design team that aims to to design and build open-wheeled racing cars each year. The cars race at a number of international events to compete in the Formula SAE®series. Queen's Racing offers engineering students the opportunity to gain real-world design and manufacturing experiences. This semester, I will be working with the drivetrain team to improve their performance during racing.
