Insolvency - Legal 500 2017I specialise in all aspects of company and insolvency law while my commercial practice covers all types of contractual disputes, commercial fraud and claims relating to the law of agency, guarantees, banking, partnership, professional negligence, breaches of trust and fiduciary duty, unjust enrichment and asset-tracing. In addition to my private practice, I was Junior Counsel to the Crown for 10 years between 1999-2009 and was instructed, often by the Treasury Solicitor, to advise and to act on behalf of various government departments including the Department for Trade and Industry/Business, HM Revenue & Customs, the Attorney-General, the Ministry of Justice and the Official Receiver on a wide range of commercial chancery matters including director disqualifications, public interest liquidations and corporate and personal insolvencies. Before commencing practice at the Bar, I worked for six years in high-level corporate finance. I was a corporate finance executive at the leading UK merchant bank Morgan Grenfell specialising in company flotations, mergers and acquisitions during the takeover boom of the mid-eighties and then manager of the corporate finance division of the international company Olympia & York, at the time the world’s largest private property development company which built Canary Wharf in London, Battery Park City in New York and First Canadian Place in Toronto.
