As Explosive Ordnance Disposal Squadron commander, supervised and led an elite team supporting Naval Special Warfare operations to include counter-IED and weapons of mass destruction hazard mitigation and neutralization and radio frequency jamming systems management and support. Maintained a thorough knowledge of counter-IED policy, doctrine, and enemy threats and techniques across the globe. Responsible for readiness and operational performance for high-risk operations (military free-fall parachuting, explosive demolition operations, and improvised explosive device and weapons of mass destruction render safe operations) in support of national military strategy.

Led an elite team that directly supported Naval Special Warfare missions to include counter-IED and chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive hazard mitigation and neutralization, high-risk operations such as diving, military free-fall parachuting, explosive demolition, and improvised explosive device and weapons of mass destruction render safe operations. Deployed to Afghanistan in support of international security forces working closely with the counter-IED Joint Task Force to execute and refine counter-IED policy. As operations and requirements Department Head, supervised establishment of Navy Riverine Force scheduling, training, and deployment to Iraq to include counter-IED, radio frequency jamming systems and inter-operability training with the US Marine Corps. Responsible for oversight of establishment and operations of two Riverine Squadrons of approx. 140 personnel & 6 detachments each.

As Officer in Charge of Detachment Norfolk led, supervised and participated in training a 5-man team responsible for emergency response to neutralize IEDs and unexploded military ordnance on 11 military bases composing the largest Naval complex in the world. Responsible for providing interoperability and counter-IED training for military first responders. As Officer in Charge of Detachment 8, a deployable team, led 6-man team to mitigate and neutralize explosive, chemical, biological, and radiological hazards in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom working closely with coalition partners and Iraq government partners to execute and further develop counter-IED policy and procedures. These assignments followed graduation from Navy explosive ordnance disposal school. Deployed to Iraq in support of Multinational Force Iraq.

Responsible for all weapons, logistics, food service, and deck operations for a 55-person mine hunting and neutralization ship forward deployed to the middle east following graduation from the Naval Academy, Navy Dive and Salvage Training Center, Surface Warfare Officer School, and Navy Supply Corps Supply Indoctrination for Line Officers course. Qualified as Surface Warfare Officer, Tactical Operations Officer, Special Operations Officer. Awarded junior officer ship-handler of the year in 2000 and 2001.
