Over the past four decades, I have had the privilege of working on a range of complex and high-profile real estate transactions in New York City and beyond.As the chairman of Fried Frank’s Real Estate Department, I represent a diverse group of clients in all aspects of commercial real estate, including acquisitions and sales, development, financing, leasing, joint ventures, and workouts. Some of my recent work includes JP Morgan's 2.5 million-square-foot headquarters development at 270 Park Avenue, Citadel’s NYC headquarters development at 350 Park Avenue, MCR’s acquisition of the Gramercy Park Hotel, and the redevelopment of 25 Water Street, one of the largest office-to-residential conversions in US history.While most of my career has been at Fried Frank, I spent five years as general counsel and a managing director of HRO International, one of Manhattan’s most prolific developers at the time, before re-joining Fried Frank as partner in 1987.I’ve taught real estate transactions courses at Harvard Law School and Columbia Law School. I also regularly lecture for NYU Law School, the Real Estate Board of New York and the Practising Law Institute. I co-authored The Commercial Office Lease Handbook, published by the American Bar Association.I serve on the Executive Committee and Board of Governors for the Real Estate Board of New York and the Board of Trustees of NYU Law School. In addition, I am Chairman of the Advisory Board of the NYU Furman Center for Real Estate and Urban Policy.
