Lead research coordination for two bone health-related studies: one investigating pre-operative and intra-operative measures of bone health to better predict post-surgical outcomes of multilevel thoracolumbar spine fusion surgeries, and another assessing the effect of epidural steroid injections on skeletal health in post-menopausal women. Conducted blood draws as a trained research phlebotomist, recruited and consented patients for studies, collected bone samples from the operating room, scheduled radiographic scans for research (MRI, CT, DXA), and processed biological specimens in the laboratory

Conducted lab work on a polysaccharide purification project in the development of vaccine candidates for treatment of Clostridium difficile. Work included bacterial cell growth and purification of polysaccharide antigens, using essential laboratory procedures such as maintaining bacterial cultures, cell lysis, ammonium sulfate precipitation, bradford and anthrone assays, tangential flow filtration, hydrophobic interaction chromatography, DNA isolation and PCR amplification, and nanodrop analysis. I was also given time away from my own project to shadow colleagues working downstream on immunogenity testing in mouse pre-clinical trials. Funding was awarded by the Mellam Family Foundation as part of the Funded Internship Program at Bowdoin Career Planning.

Conducted an independent research project at Bowdoin's Marine Laboratory to assess the effect of ocean acidification on the behavioral lateralization of local Maine mummichog fish. This was an expansion of my sophomore year research in order to operate over a larger time-scale, account for more variables, utilize more precise equipment, and bolster statistical certainty.
