Specific projects included: ◆ NYSERDA Grant Feasibility Study for Conversion of Existing Steam Plant to Thermal Energy Storage Facility – led commercial analysis of converting an existing electric and steam site located at critical electric grid juncture in New York City. Project would provide approximately 25 MW of storage capacity with up to 12 hours of discharge capability and a 12-hour recharge cycle. Commercial focus on achieving an engineering design for an optimal mix of revenue across the wholesale NYISO power market as well as providing benefit on the local distribution grid benefit. ◆ Thermal Storage Conversion of 18 MW Biomass Steam Plant, Maine – led development of project to convert existing plant into a thermal storage facility to take advantage of very low-cost, off-peak wind energy. Project would provide both peaking energy as well as ancillary services. Project in development. ◆ Thermal Storage Based Chilling Capacity for NGCC Combustion Turbine, New York, NY – led commercial development to add ice-based inlet chilling to two large gas-fired combined-cycle plants in NYC.
