I was born in Oregon with congenital club feet (Bilateral Talipes Varus). Luckily, I was able to go to Shriners Hospitals for Children, and now have feet that work, mostly.Unfortunately, even now my life is not easy, physically, and when I was young I wasn't the most sporty, instead I preferred my computer, my games, cd games, online games, drawing, fake pets, Disney cooking. All sorts of interesting things.As such, when our first computer (actually it was the monitor, but I was 7~8 and it was an old fashion desktop so what did I know) screen turned yellowish-green, I was very concerned. My computer was sick, this was terrible, what might happen to all my games? Drawings? Bookmarks? My fake cat on my computer pet game that I trained for hours to jump through a hoop???I decided that I must try and find a way to save them, all of them. I might not have known what I was doing, and I had really bad dyslexia so reading was a challenge, but I was going to find out what was wrong and fix my sickly looking computer.Spoiler, I could barely read and didn't know what the heck I was doing in the first place. So typing something along the lines of 'How do fix my sick computer green screen' or 'How do I rescue my computer cat if my computer is sick' (assuming I spelled it nearly that well) into Google or whatever was the equivalent 20 years ago, didn't really work. Eventually my parents, both computer experts, got involved and tried to explain data and backups and the fact that a monitor and a computer were not the same thing to little me.It might have worked, as now I am the family computer expert. I have sense done it all. I have shepherded a dozen printers from the unboxing to the recycling center. I have bought laptops for people based on their needs and moved files over, set up anti virus, automatic backup, malware protection, and favorite programs. I have found files thought lost forever with only the smallest of clues, set up routers, modems, mesh networks. I have been the technical support when hosting small LAN parties for Minecraft and other games. And I'm starting to get into more light physical repair of items too, like laptops, desktops, TVs, and DVD players.I am currently working through the Merit America IT Fundamentals course, and looking into several other certifications as well. I'm hoping to get an IT job that will let me really explore what IT has to offer, and look and see what my path is.
