Provide strategic communications counsel to the Dean, Chief of Staff, and the senior leadership across Harvard College. Lead development of annual and initiative-specific communications plans. Develop and implement internal communications strategies and tools to share information and engage staff and faculty in the mission and activities of Harvard College. Serves as chief spokesperson for Harvard College, Harvard College Athletics, and Harvard College Admissions, providing strategic advice and guidance on issues management, crisis communications, strategic communications planning, and message development. Support team digital planning and social media strategy for Harvard College and Harvard College Dean Rakesh Khurana. Manage College Communications team and closely collaborate with the Director of Athletic Communications, Harvard Athletics, and Director of Communications and Engagement, Harvard College Admissions. Manage College communications budget.

Lead all internal and external communications for the Superintendent, School Committee, and 121 schools. Pitch press on positive coverage. Serve as spokesperson. Develop and lead communications department responsible for internal communications, media relations, school to family communications, social media, multimedia, website, newsletters, brand, publications, and partner with other departments on community and elected official engagement. Serve as a senior advisor to the Superintendent and as a member of her executive leadership team, and represent her in meetings internal and externally. Partner with Superintendent and senior leaders to engage the Mayor in education policy and strategy. Train staff for media appearances. Draft speeches and correspondence on behalf of the Superintendent. Advise schools on proactive and reactive communications with families and the public. Manage crisis communications with stakeholders and the media. Position is 24/7/365, high-paced, ever-changing and requires attention to detail, fast and factual decision-making, and an always on mentality.

Initiated a full communications function including internal communications for staff, Board engagement, media relations, alumni relations, website and messaging updates, increased social media presence, new external newsletter, a series of stakeholder engagement events with planning from start to finish; advised Executive Director on internal and external brand management; lead engagement of elected officials and school and school district leadership.

Helped set strategic vision for organization and provided overall site leadership for 89 staff members and 280 AmeriCorps members. Led efforts to deepen relationships with media, elected officials, business leaders, and education associations to build public support for the Governor’s education agenda.
