Jonathan P. Floyd is an attorney in the firm’s Consumer Financial Services practice, with a primary focus on Financial Services Litigation. He represents clients in the areas of class action litigation and business disputes, in both federal and state court.Jonathan’s practice includes counseling to help businesses navigate and litigate the myriad of laws in the consumer law and financial services fields, with a particular emphasis on the many "alphabet soup" federal consumer protection statutes such as the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), and Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Jonathan is also experienced with a variety of state consumer protection laws and regularly litigates actions arising under the West Virginia Consumer Credit Protection Act (WVCCPA) and New York General Business Law § 349. He regularly represents a number of businesses in mortgage-foreclosure disputes and auto-finance litigation.Jonathan has represented businesses in various state and federal venues; in the last three years alone he has defended cases in seven states (New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia), as well as handled arbitrations arising under the Federal Arbitration Act (FAA). Jonathan has experience in all phases of complex litigation, including serving as lead trial counsel in multiple state court actions where he has secured defense judgments for his clients.Jonathan provides ongoing analysis and commentary on developments in the consumer financial services industry, with a focus on credit card lenders, through the Consumer Financial Services Law Monitor blog.
