CurrentIdaho licensed ski and technical mountaineering guide operating in the Sawtooth National Forest & Wilderness Area, Salmon Challis National Forest, Boise National Forest Mountain Home District, City of Rocks National Preserve, and Bogus Basin backcountry. Sawtooth Mountain Guides offers hiking, multi day backpacking, introduction to rock climbing, climbing trips, alpine climbs (technical and non technical), and the Canyon Camp (located on the west side of Red Fish Lake near the Elephants Perch and Super Slabs). My job consists of screening clients to ensure they were equipped and ready for climbs. Work with clients to determine goals for the trip. Responsible for the mitigation of hazards related to given activities while maximizing client rewards. Lead alpine climbs, some involving short roped sections through 4th class terrain. Instruct numerous climbing programs for children and adults. Document anticipated hazards, weather, clients’ information/skill level, objectives including terrain usage, time control plan, and alternative routes within “guide’s notebook.”Climbing Venues:City of Rocks- The City of Rocks National Preserve is located in Malta, ID. The "City" offers high quality granite boulders, domes, fins, and pinnacles. There is single and multi pitch tradition and/or sport climbs for all abilities in a beautiful setting! Elephant's Perch- Idaho's biggest wall of consistent, high quality granite located in the Sawtooth Wilderness Area. Take the shuttle boat from Red Fish Lake and either climb it in a long day or camp at the Canyon Camp. The classic route is the Mountaineers Route III, 5.9. Super Slabs- Listed as one of U.S. top 8 moderate climbs by Climbing Magazine. The Super Slabs sit right above the Canyon Camp in the Red Fish Creek, located in the Sawtooth Wilderness Area.
