Presently, I oversee the infrastructure of a community college client site. My responsibilities encompass the management of both onsite and cloud based servers and services, networking, telephony, technology procurement and more. Additionally, I run and maintain the college's portal with integrations to many other systems including Ellucian Banner. The organization has a robust domain of about 50,000 student and employee accounts, and depends on various Windows and Linux servers supporting numerous web and database driven applications. Security technologies include robust anti-virus with XDR, next generation firewalls, intrusion prevention, vulnerability scanning, and immutable backups.

Led a team to deliver and support technologies at a community college client site from networks and servers to telephones and printers. Together we conceptualized, implemented and supported flexible, affordable solutions to address the college's diverse needs, often employing innovative approaches with open source tools. During this time we quickly responded to the COVID-19 crisis by standing up an open source, secured remote desktop solution enabling faculty and staff to work and teach remotely. Leveraging an open source SIP based VoIP solution, we eliminated a proprietary, high cost VoIP system, saving the college more than $106,000 over five years. Additionally, I spearheaded the development of a dynamic, role-driven user portal for faculty, staff and students that integrates live data such as course schedules, grades, account balance, email and much more. Approaches such as these allowed the college to deliver high quality experiences to constituents without incurring high costs.

Managed and directed the technical support staff in day to day operations at a community college. Designed, planned and implemented technical projects, small- and large-scale. Managed and maintained Windows, Linux and UNIX servers and a complex network with remote WAN locations, numerous VLANs, multiple point to point VPNs, and wireless access. During this time we supported on premises Exchange email, and utilized open source products for spam and malware email scanning. As technology in the classroom flourished we designed and deployed easy-to-use systems to support instruction.

Supported approximately 1,000 workstations for students, faculty and staff at a community college. Daily activities included troubleshooting hardware, software and network problems. Built and deployed software configurations for all computers.

Started out as a full time Environmental Assessor, performing mostly Phase I assessments. By the time I left my Network Administrator duties made up about half my job. I left this job to move full time into the computer field.
