In the Clemson bioengineering radiation lab, I performed research investigating radiosensitizer molecules and experimental radiation treatment methods for human cancers. As an undergraduate researcher, I was responsible for the upkeep of HAoSMC, HDF, and MCF7 cell lines. Additionally, I assisted in experimental procedures such as live/dead assays, RNA extractions, and RT-qPCR experimental design. Outside of the lab, I had the opportunity to collaborate in scientific meetings and work on writing scientific papers.

As a translational development intern for bluebird bio, I performed preliminary experiments to support the investigation of a recombinant RNA treatment method for sickle cell anemia. This position exposed me to many critical aspects of biomedical research such as assay development, experimental design, and data analysis. Furthermore, this position allowed me to experience an industry work environment where I was involved in collaborative group meetings and formal scientific presentations.

I worked as an undergraduate research assistant with my school's chemical engineering department. In this role, I worked on the initial stages of a research project investigating proteins involved in glioblastoma. The future goals of this project are to create a network of proteins involved in glioblastoma metastasis and to prescribe a suitable drug combination for associated tumors . As my first official research role at Clemson, this lab exposed me to many fundamental aspects of wet lab research and allowed me to learn many basic skills.
