My practice focuses on intellectual property litigation, especially in the life sciences industry. I represent clients in patent infringement, inter partes review, Hatch-Waxman, trade secret and trademark infringement and misappropriation matters. I often appear in federal court and before the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board.I draw on more than a decade of experience to help clients develop strategies to mitigate litigation risk and expand patent protection. I also assist corporate law attorneys with patent due diligence and risk assessments for transactions.

• First-chair complex stop-loss policy dispute in United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.• Second-chair insurance coverage arbitration, mediation, and litigation by drafting answers, summary judgment motions, motions to dismiss, briefs, discovery requests and responses in state and federal court as well as London-based arbitration.• Supported UK barristers in successfully prevailing on coverage defenses in an international, London-based arbitration relating to a mass tort and multi-district bodily injury suit against a Fortune 100 company arising out of inadequate protective face respirators.• Evaluate high-value claims, including initial analysis of policies, as well as underlying contracts and allegations to advise clients as to liability exposure.• Formulate and defend coverage positions through coverage analysis opinions, reservation of rights and denial letters.• Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda regarding various complex issues in mass torts, complex commercial and high-level insurance coverage litigation.• Counsel and coordinate with national and international clients and in-house counsel.• Interview, retain, and collaborate with expert witnesses for depositions and consulting.• Regularly liaise with eDiscovery vendors and in-house personnel to gain extensive knowledge of technologies and best practices for cost-effective review and production of litigation documents.• Supervise and mentor junior associates.

Patent Prosecution:• Reviewed and revised patent applications in the chemical and biological arts including nucleic acids, proteins, antibodies, and biomarkers. • Retrieved prior art for responding to Office Actions.• Attended extensive one-on-one patent prosecution workshops related to drafting patent applications, claims including amendments, and claim terminology including preamble and transition phrases. • Drafted patent claims to proteins and antibodies. • Reviewed relevant case law covering obviousness, written description, enablement, restriction practice, inherency and declaration practice. • Researched prior art and catalog relevant references in preparation of new patent application filings. • Liaised with Inventors in obtaining appropriate data for drafting patent application and Rule 131/132 declarations and assist Patent Attorneys in reviewing Invention Disclosures. Due Diligence: • Conducted foreign equivalent searches on selected patents as needed. • Retrieved and organized third party competitor patents and related intellectual property relative to potential products and technology platforms. • Reviewed relevant case law covering possession, joint infringement, induced and contributory infringement, Hatch-Waxman and Safe Harbor. General Legal:• Drafted Confidentiality Agreements, Material Transfer Agreements and Standard Operating Procedures. • Created and updated Minute Books for all GE Healthcare legal entities. • Assisted in creating training manuals to support non-lawyer negotiation of contract provisions. • Negotiated terms and conditions of purchase orders with GE customers.

• Developed assays to study interaction between protease inhibitors and their substrates in order to support clinical trials for a drug targeting fibrosis.• Maintained a scientific notebook detailing experiments run and relevant research collected in order to present findings to other pharmaceutical companies.• Prepared and presented to upper management a research paper describing and analyzing the results of assay development experiments.

• Studied the effects of brain cavity versus brain tissue on the development of embryonic chicken brains. Sliced embryos, prepared slides, photographed and imported slide photographs to a computer and traced pictures electronically using ImageJ to determine the areas of brain tissue and brain cavity.
