My name is Jonathan Saraga and I'm a New York City-based trumpeter, flugelhornist, composer, arranger, producer, educator and Doctor of Musical Arts. I've been performing, recording and competing globally for over two decades and have engaged with audiences in over 500 cities, nearly 70 countries and just short of 100 different universities. My work has received 35 awards from 25 organizations, in the form of 9 composition competition placements, 9 grant/commission receipts, 6 residency invitations/placements, 4 trumpet competition placements, 4 workshop invitations and 3 educational conference invitations. I appear in over 230 YouTube videos, can be heard on 30+ albums and have performed throughout Canada, the Caribbean, Central America, Europe and Asia and the U.S. via multiple national tours. I have 9 years of conservatory training, selected participation in 5 renowned music-intensive programs and nearly 15 years experience within jazz academia. In addition to having obtained Bachelor of Music, Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees I have nearly a decade of education experience in both private and public settings including 3 years at the university level.
