Senior Staff Attorney
CurrentAs Senior Staff Attorney at BronxWorks, I focus on providing comprehensive legal representation to protect tenants’ rights and address housing challenges in the Bronx. My responsibilities include:• Litigation and Advocacy: Represent tenants in housing court, appellate courts, and administrative tribunals, including NYCHA tenancy termination proceedings and housing benefits hearings. Responsibilities include conducting discovery, motion practice, oral arguments, evidentiary hearings, and trials.• Strategic Client Representation: Counsel clients on legal defenses and strategies, maintain clear and consistent communication, negotiate with opposing counsel, and advocate with government agencies and external providers to secure tenant protections.• Building Expertise: Develop and apply advanced knowledge of housing court practice, housing programs, subsidies, and public benefits to achieve the best outcomes for tenants.• Mentorship and Leadership: Provide guidance to junior staff and law graduates through training, strategic insights, and in-court mentorship. Lead legal team meetings, contribute to CLE trainings, and assist with planning and developing legal strategies.• Community Engagement: Conduct outreach and education initiatives to inform tenants of their rights and available resources.
