About Jonathan Schroeder

Jonathan Schroeder is the William A. Kern Professor of Communications at Rochester Institute of Technology. He is the co-author of the new book Designed for Success: Better Living and Self-Improvement with MIdcentury Instructional Records (MIT Press, 2024). His books include Visual Consumption (Routledge, 2002), co-author of From Chinese Brand Culture to Global Brands (Palgrave 2013), Designed for Hi-Fi Living: The Vinyl LP in Midcentury America (MIT Press, 2017), editor of Conversations on Consumption (Routledge, 2013), co-editor of Brand Culture (Routledge, 2006), the Routledge Companion to Visual Organization (2014), and August Strindberg and Visual Culture (Bloomsbury 2019), and Designed for Dancing: How MIdcentury Records Taught America to Dance (MIT Press, 2021). He has been a Visiting Professor at London School of Economics, the Centre of Digital Enterprise, University of Auckland, the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad, Gothenburg University, Sweden, Shanghai Institute for Foreign Trade, and Walailak University, Thailand. His Ph.D. is in Social Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley.
