Volunteer Warden
CurrentAs a volunteer warden I promote and enhance visitors' enjoyment and understanding of wildlife and the work of the Wildlife Trust. I also assist the Reserves Teams with managing conservation grazing of sites during the spring and summer. Providing a friendly, approachable point of contact for visitors is an essential part of the position. Twice a week I also participate as a livestock 'looker' in which I visit specific sites to carry out a visual assessment on the well-being of the livestock, including checking water levels, fence conditions and reporting any issues to the reserve officer. Other responsibilities include carrying out a wide range of practical conservation tasks such as scrub clearance, constructing fences or boardwalks and coppicing.
