In addition, I devise and prepare the Science curriculum for the 9th grade students. All materials are provided via a web-based learning program allowing me to conduct focused instruction to selected groups of students and practical workshops. In addition, I coach Design Projects addressing real-world issues that come from the cities and neighborhoods our students live in, as well as from business and industry partners.PPHS’s forward-thinking curriculum is academically rigorous yet flexible enough to adapt to each student’s personal interests. Students learn to be responsible for recognizing their own gaps in academic knowledge and receive high-quality instructional supports when they need it. There are no pre-defined schedules where students move from class to class in large groups. Teachers and students work together to schedule time for instruction, which can occur individually, in small groups, or in larger groups, and can be delivered in a variety of formats depending on the learning style of the student. By graduation, Purdue Polytechnic High School students must demonstrate high levels of social responsibility, personal accountability and independent thinking.Most of our students entering ninth grade will have very limited exposure to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) career opportunities. All students will learn about major career pathways that offer strong employability options and interact with business professionals through mentor relationships.

Principle Research Scientist with Advanced Testing Laboratories, in sourced within Big Pharma where I was Technical Lead for a group of 20+ scientists and associates running routine assays in support of early drug discovery efforts. Responsible for the overall technical proficiency of the group including: general lab operations, training of new hires, routine monitoring of assay QC parameters, long term assay performance monitoring, validation of any changes in the assay (Equipment/lab/operator/reagent/SOP) and troubleshooting of assay performance and equipment.30+ projects with 50+ assays run weekly and additional assays run bi-weekly, monthly and quarterly, in a time sensitive operation requiring rapid turnaround of data (both full dose response and single point).Assays run covered a wide range of technologies both biochemical and cell based including: Fluorescent, Fluorescence Polarization, AlphaLisa, HTRF, SPA, TR-FRET, Competitive Radio-Ligand binding, Mass Spec, FLIPR, High-Content Cell Imagining, Luminescence, Pathhunter B-Arrestin GPCR Assays, Reporter Assays, Coupled Enzymatic Fluorescence Assays, Radio Ligand Uptake and Group Transfer Assays. A sub-group provided Cell Culture expertise: cell banking, cell line testing & archiving, continuous culture and plating of cells for assay, production of assay ready frozen cell stocks and cell pellets. Downsized due to operational budget cuts within host company effecting various early discovery departments.

As Director assumed all responsibility for Medicinal Chemistry support (yearly throughput of approximately 4,000 compounds analyzed in more than 40 different assays) in addition to High Through-Put screening of small molecule library of 500,000 compounds. Upgraded and re-wrote all Excel based curve fitting and data analysis protocols. Instigated control chart monitoring of all assays. Supervised and analyzed all MOA studies.Supervised in-house biologics reagent supply and quality control to support screening and medicinal chemistry. Involved in DNA-tagged affinity screening of very large small molecule libraries & Mass Spectrometry based screening.Served on Lexicon’s Scientific Executive Committee and steering committees for each target program within Lexicon, directing research and assessing all aspects of the progression of compounds to nomination for development as clinical candidates.Due to financial pressures Lexicon ceased all early stage research early in 2014 in order to focus all resources on clinical trials. Consolidated and directed all small molecule screening at Lexicon with emphasis on the biological relevance of the assays employed. Introduced flexible “workstation” based automation, acquired the latest compound dispensing technology and significantly upgraded data analysis protocols. Increased productivity to allow the running of 12 screens per year against all or part of Lexicons small molecule library of 500,000 compounds and/or an external library of natural product extracts with activity being followed through progressive rounds of purification. Supervised the screening of 50 targets in total (one or more assays per target) representing numerous target classes (including Kinase’s, Phosphatase’s, GPCR’s, Transporter’s, Ion Channels & numerous Enzymes), employing diverse assay formats (including fluorescence, luminescence, absorbance, scintillation, filter binding, fluorescence polarization, TR-FRET, reporter assays; coupled Assays and co-culture cell based assays) and utilizing various specialized assay platforms (e.g. FLIPR and PatchExpress).

These studies arose out of my discovery of genetic effects and the presence of common subunit proteins within both transcriptional complex’s and the proteasome during my postdoctoral work.
