About Jonathan Teixeira

Currently, I’m a professor in the Technology Center (CTEC) at the Federal University of Alagoas (UFAL). I received my BS and MS in chemical engineering and Ph.D. in civil and chemical (on going) engineering from UFPE. During my career in research (+10 years) I have been involved in many multidisciplinary projects (sponsored by Petrobras and EQUION) related to geomechanics problems from reservoir to near-wellbore and wellbore scales (Hydro-Mechanical analysis, fault sealing and (re)activation analysis, fracture modelling, wellbore stability, and so on). I have a strong multidisciplinary academic background in geosciences, (geo)chemstry, transport phenomena and expertise in many simulations and modeling techniques (Finite Element and Finite Volume Method, streamline simulation and other methods). My interests lie in computational mechanics and multi-scale modeling with applications to geomechanics, multiphysics processes, fracture mechanics, and anomalous transport processes.I have included a summary of my accomplishments depicting my technical and other competencies below.- Strong multidisciplinary academic background in Earth Sciences;- Pragmatic and very motivated professional;- Well-versed in many computational modeling and simulation techniques;- Expertise in Finite Element and Finite Volume Method, reservoir simulation, streamline simulation, Hydro-mechanical modeling, Reactive transport, and fracture modeling;- Knowledge and practical experience in C++, python, fortran, and MATLAB.

    At Fuels Laboratory, I have developed research on biofuels (simulation, optimization and production of biodiesel) and petroleum refining (optimization and quality control methodology of solvent refining unit to remove polycyclic aromatic hidrocarbon [PAH] from “distillate” aromatic extracts [DAE] that were produced from the extraction of distillate lubricating oil base stocks). During this period, I published some articles about improvement of biodiesel production process and extration of PAH from DAE, specially concerning aspects such as yield, quality control methodology, technical reports and so on.
