As a healthcare advisory partner at PwC, I determined strategic direction for sales and business development within the Southeast region and nationally while leading approximately 50 staff members, including health care regulatory consultants and professionals. Highlights in this role include:✔ Achieved sales of non-recurring consulting services in excess of $3M annually.✔ Led the PwC reimbursement team in identifying a client (major university teaching hospital) Medicare cost report error worth $10M. Result: the client was able to obtain the $10M+ of additional Medicare reimbursement by following PwC suggestions and significant profitability ensued for the firm, due to establishment of a contingent fee. ✔ Assigned both regional and national reimbursement resources oversight.✔ Provided valuable coaching and mentorship, leading to two individuals achieving partnership with the firm. ✔ Met 100% of all quality standards and compliance while maintaining thorough knowledge of risk management protocols.

As manager of PwC’s healthcare regulatory group, I oversaw healthcare audits from beginning to end and reviewed retroactive settlements and contractual allowances in support of PwC auditors in the Southeast region. Additionally, I led growth of Medicare specialist resources in Birmingham, subsequently expanding said resources to Atlanta, Florida, and nationally. Highlights in this role include:✔ Spearheaded a $3M dollar Medicaid regulatory audit of 60 Kentucky nursing homes, including instructing over 100 PwC auditors on the nursing home reimbursement methodology. ✔ Success of the initial Medicaid regulatory audit of 60 Kentucky nursing homes led to PwC being hired for two subsequent years, which resulted in approximately $6M in additional firm fees. ✔ Performed a financial feasibility study (a five-year projection) for a new hospital. This required PwC to conduct numerous meetings with the hospital board to discuss the bond offering status. Result: the bonds were sold and the hospital was built.✔ Sold $500K in consulting fees based on the identification of a TEFRA error in the UAB Hospital Medicare cost report.
