Fleet Engineering Manager, responsible for the 93 high speed Hitachi Class 800 and 802 fleet of trains operated by GWR. Responsibilities including:- The reviewing and authorising body for Engineering Changes proposed by Hitachi Rail UK- The review of NIR and safety related defects and recommending appropriate actions for the fleet.- To research and develop technical solutions to enhance safety, technical and financial performance in relation to the fleet.- To support supplier and level 2 audits - To ensure any change affecting the fleet is made in accordance with Railway Group Standards, GWR's SMS and the train lease contract

Ensuring that any safety issues are managed within the Safety Related Defect Process.To lead initial technical investigations for issues affecting the fleet including, analysis of train data (Historic or Real Time) to ascertain the root cause of performance or safety issues.Highlight any emerging trends affecting safety & reliability.Identifying continual business improvements such as technical solutions, fault finding guides and/or maintenance optimisation opportunities.To support individual technical investigations and provide Production, Fleet & Planning functions with engineering advice to optimise fleet safety & performance and ensure that rolling stock assets comply with operational specifications.Carry out risk assessments when required as part of the Concessions & Dispensations Procedure.To work with Data Science Team to optimise the use of train data for technical investigations, alerting the business of safety issues & for maintenance optimisation.Supporting good working relationships by communicating effectively with the engineering team and other business functions within Hitachi & our customers or suppliers as required.
