Starting from the needs of users first and foremost, this paradigm must be driven by the best data and science possible, including probabilistic hazard modeling and vulnerability assessment to form.

I work on projects that involve tropical cyclones, weather risk, and climate risk. In this position, I created the VDM+ and FLIGHT+ hurricane aircraft datasets, developed a new observations-based historical database of tropical cyclone parameters (TC-OBS), and worked in teams developing new methods of predicting extreme rapid intensification (hurricanes).

I investiged various aspects of tropical cyclone inner core structure and intensity change, including eye formation, rapid intensification, and the factors which control the radius of maximum wind.
