I was a member of a Microsoft Research team that built a platform to push weather, news, and sports updates to Nokia and HTC feature phones. I developed the handheld UI infrastructure to create these channels and update content dynamically.The group had a previous version of the product that sent this data to a wristwatch, but that was abandoned because of the growing adoption of mobile phones. It's interesting how things have gone full circle now, as IoTs are mainstream with Apple Watch, FitBits, and Echos.
