Procurement Manager

Wanganui-Manawatu, New Zealand

My time with Newtech and Amtech has been rather interesting as it has seen me put all my experience to the test. I was originally recruited to fill the role of Procurement Manager for both companies. Amtech however occupied most of my time and especially so when COVID struck as I assisted Amtech in chartering the first 3 planes to NZ filled with essential PPE and medical supplies to assist NZ with the initial outbreak. The owners then asked to temporarily (6 months) take up the role of Operations Manager in Newtech as there was an urgent need for someone until they could permanently recruit someone. I fully returned to my procurement duties after 8 months with a slight change of only working for Newtech to better focus and add value to the company.Responsibilities: - Managing and forecasting stock requirements for all sectors of the company, this includes:- Placing orders- Negotiation terms with suppliers- Maintaining stock at desired levels- Consolidating shipments across the companies for cost benefits.- Identify slow moving / under performing stock and working with sales / marketing on ways to clear said stock.- Managing inwards freight costs and reporting on any significant changes.- Reporting on outward bound freight costs and giving suggestions on what can be done to have better outcomes for the business.- Monitor and report to the Directors on key metrics for each category, this includes:- Cost of Goods Sold- Margin Forecasting- Working Capital- Provide key improvement suggestions to better the above-mentioned areas.- Facilitating payments to suppliers in conjunction with the Financial Controller.- Maintain regulatory requirements and compliance with MPI as the as the Transition Facility Officer.- Working with the Product Development team on identifying new products and how to incorporate them into the product offering. This includes doing sourcing and costing research as well as GP feasibility.
