After joining the military, I spent 2 years stationed at RAF Lakenheath in the United Kingdom maintaining aircraft propulsion systems on the F-15 Eagle. During this time, I helped maintain our fleet of Pratt & Whitney F100-220 turbofan jet engines, as well as worked outside of my career field on occasion with members of different AFSC’s. I learned valuable insight into different systems on the aircraft, including electrical, avionics, weapons, and others. Over the course of these two years, I earned my journeyman status as an Aerospace Propulsion Technician, along with several awards and accolades. After leaving RAF Lakenheath, I began my next assignment as a member of the sole repair facility for General Electric F101-102A engines at Dyess AFB in Abilene, Texas. As a member of this unit, we provide maintenance services and support for the powerplant used by all B-1 Lancers in the USAF’s inventory.
