The Southeast Industrial Development Association is a regional economic development association facilitating the creation of jobs, capital investment and additional power load throughout the SEIDA service area (Northwest Georgia, Southeast Tennessee and Western North Carolina.) SEIDA provides a coordinated approach to the delivery of a range of services to assist businesses with locations, expansions, and help with the identification of financing opportunities, infrastructure development, and marketing and demographic research.-Assists the Director of Community & Economic Development in planning and implementing the various projects and activities outlined in the overall Economic Development Work Plan.-Provides oversight and administration for SETDD loan programs and project financing guidance and expertise. -Coordinates activities between Workforce Development, and Economic Development as it relates to economic development activities.-Coordinates identified opportunities for Business Development Services between Workforce, Economic Development, Planning, and outside agency resources.-Provides coordination of various SEIDA Program activities including oversight for the industrial sites and facilities data base.-Provides project management expertise and coordination between new and expanding industries, TVA, TVA Power Distributors, state, local governments, and economic development organizations.•Prepares grant proposals for submission to granting agencies. Awarded and currently managing $7.5 million dollars in funds on behalf of local governments.

•Responsible for Special Projects as assigned by Senior Management; direct assistance to the Executive Director.•Development and submission of applications for specialized funding opportunities including U.S EDA Disaster Funding and USDA REDLG related to infrastructure needed for economic growth.•Assists in developing long range comprehensive community plans concerning development of communities; identifies strategies which promote economic and community development or efficient land use consistent with community goals.•Assists local government boards and prospective businesses with locations, expansions, financing opportunities, infrastructure development, marketing and demographic research; Responds to Requests for Information on behalf of local governments at their request.•Provides project management expertise and coordination between new and expanding industries, TVA, TVA Power Distributors, State, local governments, and economic development organizations.•At the direction of the Program Manager, provides supporting role to the daily activities of the Southeast Industrial Development Association including internal administration, outreach and program fund management; Assists with website development, social media marketing, site selection database maintenance, and provides guidance to communities hosting site visits; Acts as recording secretary for SEIDA board meetings.•Prepares grant proposals for submission to granting agencies not limited to the Appalachian Regional Commission, the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development, the Tennessee Department of Health and the United States Department of Agriculture; assists local governments in selecting grant opportunities to meet their needs and coordinates efforts to ensure competitive applications; Awarded and currently managing $5.3 million dollars in funds on behalf of local governments; 100% success rate in all grants applied for.

This position is responsible for assistance to local governments in areas of community planning, economic development, hazard mitigation, personnel management, environmental issues, transportation and grant preparation and administration. Among many other tasks, I performed the following duties in this position: • Created Business Retention and Expansion Programs, Feasibility Studies, Needs Assessments, Housing Assessments, Economic Impact Modeling to foster Economic and Community Development in the Middle Georgia Region.• Facilitated strategic planning retreats for local governing boards and development authorities.• Drafted local acts to the Georgia State Legislature for consolidating governments and creation of local boards; Drafted and revised ordinances for local governments.Grant Writing and Administration • Community Development Block Grants and Entitlement Grants: Project Development, writing, surveying, and preliminary engineering report development; Economic Development Grants: Capacity-building and new industry support grants for multiple counties; Responsible for $1.1 million dollars in grant awards during my tenure.• Served as staff to the board of the Middle Georgia Clean Air Coalition, Middle Georgia Economic Alliance, Middle Ocmulgee Water Planning Council and as assistant to the Middle Georgia Joint Development Authority.Personnel Management• Created organizational charts and job descriptions to support local community personnel activities (Macon-Bibb County Consolidated Government, Cities of Ivey, Hawkinsville and Forsyth).• Conducted salary studies and benefits surveying to create competitiveness between governments of equivalent size and complexity; Facilitated job advertisements, screenings and interviews to support hiring activities for local governments
