Leading a portfolio of multidisciplinary closure studies across sites in Peru, DRC, Queensland and Tasmania. Annual life of asset closure cost estimation and liability provisioning.

Responsible for generating closure plans and closure cost estimates, and managing supporting technical closure studies as part of the Life of Asset planning process within the Group Technical Services Department. Part of the Study team for the Order of Magnitude/PFS phase covering greenfield and brownfield coal mines, a coal fired powered station and coal bed methane projects. Managing consultants to execute scoping and baseline studies to feed into environmental and social impact assessments (ESIA). Oversaw social & environmental component of site selection and ESIA scoping studies for the potential relocation of an international airport. Development of health, safety, security and environmental design criteria, procurement guidance, and hazard study guidance to influence project designs to deliver inherently safer projects. Due diligence preparation for potential joint venture partners/strategic equity partners. Also accountable for monthly and annual corporate HSE metrics and sustainability reporting, and providing technical HSE support to the operation's HSE team.

Managed and obtained approval for four Social & Environmental Impact Assessments for the Simandou Iron Ore Project in Guinea, West Africa; conforming to the International Finance Corporation Performance Standards. ESIAs covered:- 700km heavy haul rail line- Multiple quarries along the rail alignment- Road network covering several hundred kms- More than a dozen Construction Camps to accommodate over 10,000 workersSupervision of the EPCM's social and environmental performance in design, field studies and early construction works. Oversaw SEIA and Resettlement baseline studies for a proposed 40MW hydroelectric power station and dam. Oversaw preparation of PFS and FS Closure Plan, and co-authored ESIA sections of PFS and FS Reports.

Managing Social and Environmental Impact Assessments for early construction activities across Port, Rail and Mine site on the Simandou Project, Guinea, West Africa. Contributed to early resettlement action plan (RAP) development, including resettlement site selection criteria, housing design, GIS software system selection, livelihood restoration, asset inventory, census & socio-economic studies. Supervision of the EPCM's social and environmental performance in design, field studies and early construction works.

Designing and implementing environmental monitoring programs to feed into mine feasibility studies for the Simandou Project. Acting Environment Manager for 12 months, leading a team of 100 Nationals, covering site environmental management system (ISO14001), monitoring programs, laboratory, biodiversity field surveys, plant nursery & seed bank, rehabilitation and waste management. Development of Company Sustainability Report.

Developing and implementing the site Environmental Management System (ISO14001) and Monitoring Program, development of onsite environmental analytical laboratory, supervising the EPCM on early works construction, and managing environmental performance of a large scale exploration program (~15 drill rigs) for the Simandou Project.

Consulting Engineer. Time split between corporate environmental and sustainability reporting assignments, and operational secondments for several months to Pilbara Iron, Bengalla Coal Mine, Northparkes Copper Mine and the Ranger Uranium Mine.
