As the External Relations Manager, I was responsible for protecting and enhancing the reputation of the company in an issues-rich, highly regulated industry through effective and strategic corporate communications and stakeholder management. This role encompasses the full range of corporate affairs functions − media, government and investor relations.

The focus of my role was to manage the external communications activity – develop media strategies, media train spokespeople (GM level), manage potential reputation-damaging issues – for NAB Business Banking’s SME, Corporate and Institutional divisions, along with NAB’s specialised banking teams servicing the health, agri, government and education sectors.

This was primarily a media relations and issues/crisis management role, relying on the ability to develop communication strategies that achieved the business objectives for my clients, including not-for-profits, small businesses and listed corporations.
