It included management of a team of reporters, newsroom managers and visual journalists, and responsibility for the creation of content for Stuff.co.nz, Sunday Star Times and other Fairfax titles.

Other responsibilities included liaising with other Fairfax newsrooms, leading news meetings, creating coverage plans for big events, handling complaints, interviewing applicants, training staff and editing copy.
