Associate Vice President/Director Of Public Affairs
CurrentOversees communication and outreach efforts to support the President, the Board of Regents and other university leadership in raising the profile and reputation of the University of Alaska (UA). Collaborates closely with the public affairs and university advancement leadership at each of the universities in addition to managing internal communications and supervising of the Office of Public Affairs. - Provide communication leadership, guidance and support to the President, Board of Regents and other university leadership on policy issues, and other matters of significance. - Develop, direct, and execute key crisis communications responses. - Create and implement a strategic, comprehensive, innovative, and proactive communication and outreach plan to raise the profile and reputation of the University of Alaska (UA) while ensuring consistent messaging across the system - Serve as the primary spokesperson to local, national, and international media on issues pertaining to the University of Alaska, including on behalf of the university president and Board of Regents actions. - Manage the public affairs team performance, development needs and career growth. - Project manage communication campaigns, working cooperatively with university public affairs officers and university advancement leaders on internal communication strategies. - Coordinate with the university's state and federal directors on proactive legislative strategies, engaging with system leadership to establish priorities.
