Profile bio

About Jonathon Mclean

I specialize in developing and tuning with Kubernetes (specifically AWS EKS); coaching/mentoring engineers to understand K8s configurations and managing manifests with Helm or Kustomize. I have shifted organizations towards GitOps for the last 5 years and onboarded solutions such as Argo CD (GitOps), Argo Rollouts (Canary/Blue Green) and Argo Workflows (workflow orchestration). I have also migrated machine learning teams (leveraging Metaflow specifically) into Kubernetes to allow for faster compute acquisition and finer tuning. Historically, I used Typescript and Python to develop software, but have since started to leverage Golang to take full advantage of Kubernetes operator patterns and leverage more optimized performance for backend services. Bash is a common for developing quick scripts to perform finite actions that can easily be defined within Github Actions or other workflow orchestration tools.I am a believer in dedicating time to help teammates grow - my leadership skills focus on growing my peers to be better/more senior engineers. Embracing a blameless culture to improve psychological safety as well as maturing technology that may not be as well rounded as it should be.My favorite responsibility is being a father to my 2 beautiful children, and a husband to my wonderful wife. Working in tech for 15+ years has allowed me to live a life full of family fulfillment all the while pushing my intellectual borders.

Listed skills include Unix, Networking, Software Development, Tcp/Ip, and 26 others.
