About Jonathon Pipa, P.Eng
My childhood dreams to explore and improve quality of life in Canada and internationally has inspired me to pursue a career path in the field of engineering.During the completion of my Bachelor's degree at the University of Toronto, I discovered my passion for problem solving, and developing innovative solutions to complex problems. In particular, I grew especially interested in the potential of robotics, aerospace and emerging mechatronic technology to create unique solutions to many complex challenges. These include poverty reduction, faster response times and aid effectiveness in emergency and humanitarian operations, and improving industrial infrastructure to support sustainable economic growth. I have worked in the aerospace industry for nine years with Airdyne R&D Inc. In my career so far, I have contributed, through structural design, analysis and maintenance planning, to the development of novel roll on/roll off aircraft equipment for C-130 series aircraft. This equipment enhances emergency response capabilities for aircraft search and rescue, security and humanitarian missions. It includes, but is not limited to, a bubble canopy window, adjustable seat, external support strut and avionics rack mounts.During this time, I became very excited about how new aircraft equipment and modifications can make such a significant positive impact on emergency response missions, while enhancing safety. My career goal is to become a senior level Project Engineer, to continue developing improvements to aircraft, emergency response, transportation and industrial systems. In so doing, I will continue to work on improving their performance, and reliability, so that they can enhance safety in transportation, search and rescue and humanitarian operations. As well, I will work to grow the businesses I'm part of, to promote economic development and job growth potential.Beyond my engineering career goals, I am an aspiring author of fantasy and science fiction novels. I am currently developing my first science fiction novel.
