Intelligence & Security —-Role overview:As a contracting civil structural engineer at BAE systems I collaborate with a responsible engineering design team for the US Air Force’s STRATCOM ICBM Minuteman III infrastructure sustainment program’s maintenance, development and design with an active security clearance. My duties include:- Focus on the design and construction of structural and geotechnical components and systems - Maintain and update as-built drawings- Perform structural designs and analysis of architectural elements- Conduct calculations on extreme impact loads and forces - Conduct Geotechnical Analysis and Soil Mechanics - Use engineering computer software such as AutoCADD, Civil 3D and solidworks also use programs for mathematical modeling, performance modeling, and tests on hardness values on extreme scales in regards to the weapon system-Systems engineering training and design work - Research current civil engineering technology for professional development- Perform quality checks on designs and construction to ensure accuracy and precision-Coordinate and collaborate with other engineering fields within the team -Discuss given projects with the contractors- Create written and verbal reports- Attend engineering and contractor meetings-Analysis on materials for cost estimations - 30% travel to Air Force Bases and the weapon sites- Consider safety aspects in all engineering work and designs—-I am excited to share that I have been working with an excellent team of engineers, achieving significant milestones together. As an intern, assisted project engineers, resident engineers, engineering technician and construction representatives with their inputs and oversight on construction of a $124M helicopter maintenance facility hanger, renovations on the $5M 90th Missile Wing Command Center, and $147M Weapons Maintenance Storage Facility. Assisted in reviewing designs, modifications, technical specifications, and contractor submittals as government quality assurance meeting contract requirements.• Participated in RFI calls and BIM meetings with structural engineers to find solutions on fabrication and design.• Assisted construction representatives and project engineers on inspections of concrete rebar placement for various types of foundations. Also did inspections for the now finished renovation of the 90th Missiles Wing Command Center.• Assisted on supervision for compaction tests for soils on the job site to prepare for the placement of the concrete pavement.• Assisted in supervising placement of concrete for the foundations and electrical piping. As a research assistant, assisted graduate and post doctorate researchers on an ongoing Wyoming funded research in structural material testing with unprecedented materials added to the concrete, bricks, and truss structures. The goal is to successfully finish the research to make a new structural material marketable in the industry and to create a new ASTM standard and establish a factory for manufacturing.• Physically produced/tested over 4,000 structural bricks and concrete samples from new confidential material, utilized ASTM standards• Assisted w/design on SER’s project test house, used Revit as architectural presentation/AutoCAD for structural design. • Conducted different types of lab research, utilized variety of high-tech research equipment, no safety issues.• Team player, established partnerships within engineering environment, implemented organizational requirements.• Completed weekly reports to be sent to the DOE, included logistics, complex economics, and basic design costs. • Hands on materials testing with concrete casting with different mixing agents and conducted strength tests.
