Each semester, I have the good fortune of working with students who are finishing their requirements for their NYS teaching certification and are involved in their student teaching placements. In this position, I am able to support the work they are doing as student teachers, discuss best practices, and provide experiential guidance. Through the use of a Socratic seminar method, discussions are held on the values of everything from SEL in the classroom to classroom management to student engagement strategies.

My guidance includes helping my students learn about their role as a teacher, expanding their knowledge around the strategies, interactions and planning involved in good teaching, and, ultimately, providing them with a foundation on which to continue building their professional goals of being outstanding classroom teachers.

As an adjunct professor teaching a course in Professionalism and Career Planning, I enjoy the opportunity to work with future business leaders in the Lubin School of Business. In this role, I create and present lessons on topics ranging from Resume design/development to Interviewing techniques all through the lens of real world experiences and expectations.

During my time at Pelham Memorial High School I was able to interact with students, staff and parents to provide guidance and leadership in areas of discipline, academics and social-emotional well being. In this role, I chaired both 504 and MTSS meetings as well as provided assistance and guidance in the on-going development of the high school MTSS plan. While it was a short-term position, I feel as though I was able to make a positive impact on the school and the people, as evidenced by both staff and students asking me to stay and return for future events.

I had the privilege of leading a 9-12 high school of approximately 450 students for 13 years. During that time, the school developed a stronger academic presence and was named a NYS Reward School for 5 years in a row for the last 5 years of my tenure. Additionally, we were named a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence in 2017 by the US Dept. of Education. I had the opportunity and important role of hiring and evaluating both clerical and professional staff, providing academic guidance and professional growth leadership. This included leading, planning and or organizing programs that included technology, writing in the content areas, reading engagement, and much more.I was fortunate to have worked with several key constituency groups including parent organizations, student groups, the teachers' union, local business organizations and more. In addition, I was able to develop working relationships with outside businesses and private schools that brought useful learning experiences to students and staff, including an Annual STEM Career Day with Pepsico and Curricular and Best Practices with EF Academy to support working with ELL students.
