Naval Architect
CurrentNaval Architect working with the Project Management Office (PMO) of the Joint Support Ship (JSS) replenishment vessel. This role comes with a diverse set of responsibilities as the Nav Arch department oversees topics such as structures, hydrostatics, stability, materials and coatings, with shared roles in outfitting, equipment, systems, vessel launch and various manuals.It is the goal of PMO JSS to ensure that our Contract Design Specification (CDS) requirements will be matched with the completed JSS vessel. This leads to extensive 2D drawing/schematic reviews, 3D model (Navisworks) audits, along with many theoretical analyses on the above mentioned topics. As many requirements are based on class rules, the practice often becomes meshing the CDS with class, then comparing this with our design documents, using many tools and software along the way.To meet this goal communication is crucial. Meetings between Canada (DND) and Vancouver Shipyards (VSY) occur daily. Here we make sure that objectives are met and any issues that appear are dealt with properly. Regular meetings also occur with the Detachment, Canada's group of experts stationed at VSY. This way Canada has another set of eyes on the project to conduct inspections and bring forward in-person information to the PMO.
