Currently a professor at the University of Maryland, Robert H. Smith School of Business in the department of Logistics, Business and Public Policy. My academic and research interests include the use of international trade to foster sustainable development. I teach primarily graduate level courses in managerial economics, sustainability, negotiations and business law to management executives.My first career in the military allowed me to live and travel in Europe while also participating in three overseas campaigns within a SOF HQ. In addition to criminal and civil trial work, I also had the opportunity to develop a specialization in defense procurement, government contracting and transportation logistics. In my last assignment, as part of USTRANSCOM, we delivered from “factory to foxhole” worldwide. After the military, I was a partner in a large law firm in Washington DC, as lead trial attorney for a global business conglomerate and an international research lab for matters involving recovery of intangible assets (primarily trademark or patent infringement) and contract disputes. My legal practice was exclusively federal, spanning the nation from Delaware to Hawai'i and points in-between. Before joining UMD, I also worked with METRO in Washington, DC as Chief Counsel for Procurement and Contracts.
