I'm a Sr. Systems Engineer with 20+ years of experience. Most of it has been dedicated to the public edu sector where I started out in system support and quickly gained the confidence of my employer. I am currently the Senior Sys Engineer for the 6th largest school district in WA state, with a focus on the Microsoft Azure platform. I lead a team of innovative Sys Admins and find enjoyment in helping them identify and reach their goals. I speak to large groups on various technical subjects and also enjoy learning from others.RECENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS:- Acquired the lead role on our team. I lead standups, give oversight on projects and assist in helping the team meet their goals. I provide direction to an outstanding group of SysAdmins.- During the COVID-19 pandemic, I led the effort to onboard Microsoft Teams to 3,500 staff and 24,000 students as an online platform for digital learning and a collaboration suite for remote work. Under extremely short timeframes I was able to deploy Teams, use SDS to integrate with our SIS, work with local departments for training purposes, and utilize Powershell to lockdown security for students and staff.- Successfully rebuilt and recovered from a well-planned and targeted Ransomware attack that left all Windows servers including AD, DNS and other critical systems in a compromised state. I led the effort to rebuild our core Microsoft services. I meticulously planned, tested and reestablished AzureAD and M365 provisioning to our on-prem domain. While this was unequivocally the most difficult challenge of my career, the experience gained from looking critically at the past, then using that knowledge to drastically reduce our attack surface and improve system hardening is shaping every technical decision I make moving forward.- Technical lead on migrating 4,500 mailboxes from on-prem to Exchange Online. Built our Azure tenant and designed the systems necessary to create and maintain 24,000+ identities in Entra ID. Was instrumental in designing the M365 space for use in an educational environment.
