As the sole content designer on Credit Karma's largest product team, I am responsible for leading design across multiple products with various cross-functional teams of designers, product managers, engineers, and analysts. Led a small design team as an individual contributor in co-developing a design-thinking software development process that increased design-ship velocity by aligning cross-functional stakeholders behind principled approaches to long-term product strategies and following agile patterns for transparency and planning. We vastly increased product quality and velocity, shipping ten times the features with half the churn. We shipped the Karma Drive telematics product, vehicle-matched member experience, affordability virtual assistant conversation and calculator, super-agent experience, social comparison interaction patterns, and many more features still producing results for Credit Karma.

I was the first hire of the first director charged with building a content design team (then called "Product Writing") at Credit Karma. I was the conversation designer for Penny, CK's financial assistant bot. I was responsible for natural language processing, regular expression and natural language understanding, conversation design and development, writing in code, and understanding and using interaction analytics about conversations to improve them. After successfully launching and developing Penny experiences across product areas, I was brought in to lead design of the new front-door "Stories" experience. I worked with a small set of cross-functional teams researching, developing, designing, testing and experimenting in a highly visible and contentious central feeder space for all of CK's product stakeholders. Breaking velocity records for shipping product and learning, we managed to ship a front door solution that used improved discovery, diversified and grew revenue substantially, and helped CK turn a corner as a company. When the pandemic happened, I led design on the award-winning Relief Roadmap project, a cross-vertical, company-wide effort to help our users manage the financial crisis of the pandemic.

Led tester acquisition outreaches for alpha and beta (with Marketing and User Acquisition). Wrote and executed user tests, ranging from guerrilla testing in the field to scheduled in-person moderating to unmoderated and quantitative. Created the brand language and established initial tone. Established a culture of design-thinking to better meet business needs and develop deeper feature sets. Established the community and support infrastructure and strategy.

Directed global communications for the Ignite brand as well as product strategy for applications developed by Ignite. Ignite was the innovation lab for the Adecco Group and developed new enterprise technologies for the staffing and HR space. We worked with brands such as Modis, Soliant, and Lee Hecht Harrison, among others. Jon facilitated workshops for other teams and was content development lead for the software products Ignite designed and developed. From content strategist during product development to leveraging that insight in the product strategies as products matured, Jon participated in creating a holistic experience design for the users and customers of Ignite's 6 active products.

As the last person appointed to the Board of Directors of the non-profit Stetson Kennedy Foundation by the late writer, activist and "po-folkist" (as he was dubbed by music legend and personal friend Woody Guthrie), I increased awareness of the foundation through development of their social media presence. I was also instrumental in expanding awareness of Stetson Kennedy to younger generations through events and community engagements. I currently serve on the advisory board of the foundation.

Determined editorial content, coordinated and managed writing and production staff to put out 30,000 free entertainment newspapers every week that comprehensively cover all of the entertainment available in North Florida for that week.In this capacity I was the editor, one of three proof readers, a writer of 5 - 10% of the paper every week, a part-time salesperson for the paper and the Marketing Director. During my time there I increased the usage and popularity of our website by more than 500% in less than six months. I increased the advertising revenue of the paper by about 30% and circulation and public perception increased exponentially in the community.
