tl;dr: I'm essentially the entire Human Resources Department. I coordinate hundreds of volunteers, leading them by example and answering for their training, morale, and discipline. I'm the first touchpoint for prospective newcomers keen to get involved at community radio.

My latest administrative project for 2SER is writing and updating a comprehensive training manual, replete with learning modules, detailing every role in creating radio in the 21st century — from situating the context of the medium's history to broadcast law to guides on scripting, producing, interviewing, presenting, editing.It functions as a 'living document', consistently updated as technology evolves (e.g.: incorporating cross-integration of social media and generative AI). The long-term goal of this plan is to distribute it to other community stations to implement in their training strategies.I assist in the management, training, and supervision of magazine show teams — both Macquarie University PACE interns and external volunteers — across the week. This can also entail airchecking various segments and helping budding presenters cut their teeth on the Nightshift graveyards (12-4am) or on my own show (4-6pm) in a safe learning environment.

I'm the showrunner and host for Tuesday's evening drive-time magazine show, an early-fringe primetime slot, on one of Sydney's leading community radio stations. I use this platform as a training ground for budding presenters and panel operators as well, concurrently teaching them on-the-job.I also directly instruct interns on producing content segments aired live on-air, including drafting and crafting interviews, all the way to the podcast post-production and promotion stage.

I regularly fill in as a cover host for regular magazine show presenters on an ad-hoc basis unable to make their shifts. The volatility of shift work at my other job means committing to a fixed weekly slot is currently untenable. Presenting at 2SER involves using the WideOrbit automation software in conjunction with panel operation (analog at Macquarie, digital at Broadway) and gives me the chance to adapt and experiment with my writing and presenting styles to different audiences at different time slots on the airwaves. I usually fill in on The Daily (9am-12pm) and Drive (4-6pm).

I have been at the Macquarie Centre outlet since its inception in July 2018.My job scope requires heavy multitasking, specifically taking and making beverage orders (both online, delivery, and in-person) collaboratively in a team within a lightning fast-paced environment (averaging 100-150 customers per hour at peak foot traffic). I also settle administrative matters concurrently, such as restocking, inventory runs, sanitising.

Invasion is a community-led social enterprise that conducts market research and development activities for music made in Singapore.The venture's objectives are to generate mass exposure of homegrown music to the crucial millennial generation (13-25), as well as to encourage the continued discovery of local talent. This is most commonly executed through the audience development initiative called the *SCAPE Invasion Tour in collaboration with *SCAPE to bring high quality local musicians to assembly halls in secondary and tertiary educational institutions with the help of partners like 987FM, Lush 99.5FM, Juice Magazine, Bandwagon, Zouk, sgmuso, and Bandwagon, together with the backing of government firms like the National Arts Council and the National Youth Council.Invasion also conducts research developments to assess the music consumption of target market youths, and to quantify the increase or decrease in demand for local music, in addition to helping budding musicians learn from successful, more experienced musicians in the scene.During my time here, I helped program and execute festivals that garnered significant traction in the Singapore music scene — Noise Invasion Festival (collaboration with the government's National Arts Council) in October 2017 at Haw Par Villa (the first of its kind) and the annual *SCAPE Invasion Festival in November of the same year. Among other things, Invasion was also involved in the presentation, programming, and execution of Shine Festival 2017, as well as Music for a Cause, and Munah & Hirzi's swan song show in January 2018. I also helped to curate Singapore's inaugural Youth Music Awards, a localised Grammys-like ceremony, to celebrate young music talent in Singapore.

Outside of academia, I enjoy penning my thoughts prosaically, which has built my confidence in self-expression. From 2010-11, I wrote close to twenty published articles as a columnist for this student-founded, student-run, student-led, non-profit magazine, while also doubling up in the pioneer leadership committee as their inaugural pictorial editor. The articles I wrote varied in content, from interviews to reviews to academic/lifestyle how-tos.The readership tallied among tens of thousands of international students circulated among every international school. This position also helped me subsequently become the yearbook photographer and DVD Editor at my own school at the time, Dulwich College Beijing.Our projects tied in directly to community service; we helmed two children's libraries in the relatively unreached hutong villages of Gu Cheng and Luo Ge Zhuang in the Shunyi District in Beijing. The service libraries are opened every weekend by various UNIT-E committee, members, and/or volunteers.
