  • University Of Nebraska Lincoln
    Visiting Instructor
University Of Nebraska Lincoln Sep 2002 - May 2003
    Lincoln, Ne, Us
The department of computer science asked me to teach Software Engineering 461/861. I taught the class for two semesters before I moved to Omaha. The first semester I inherited the syllabus and course materials from the previous professor. These focused exclusively on the Waterfall Model and the Mythical Man Month. The second semester I chose to compare and contrast this traditional approach with the XP methodologies gaining popularity at the time.I thoroughly enjoyed my time teaching these students. I was able to supplement the material with my experiences leading large and complex projects at Gallup. In some ways the class was good therapy for me. Teaching Software Engineering certainly helped crystallize my own thoughts around the methods and tools we were using. I believe the overall quality of software at Gallup improved significantly because of this experience.
