Lead the architecture and buildout of a new cloud research platform built on OpenStack that offloads serial jobs from HPC and provides new self-service options for campus researchers. Began efforts for mixed personality compute clusters to harvest cycles for HPC workloads including the GPU rich VDI environment. These efforts support a strategic vision of unified compute and unified storage for data and computational workload mobility. This initiative directly enabled new AI/ML research and an IoT focused research grant to be fulfilled.
