I am an inquisitive and entrepreneurial Degree qualified Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers. I have spent much of my working and personal life repairing and finding solutions for the continued operation and optimisation of obsolete / legacy systems.I am interested in all things engineering as well as a bit of politics and general ‘people watching’. I have always loved engineering design and am an ardent supporter of science, technology engineering and mathematics (STEM) in schools. I also like to apply the logic of engineering to other aspects of business including QHSE and in particular marketing and selling of innovative solutions to client problems.I am a firm advocate of fact-based data analysis and the application of robust engineering analytics and modelling to improve understanding and operation of all aspects of engineering. This includes condition & performance monitoring, control & instrumentation, mechanical, electrical, maintenance & reliability and, computer-based analytics and modelling. I have applied this expertise extensively in a number of industries, including pharma, agrochemicals, defence and oil & gas.I would like to consider myself an inspiring leader with a determination to get my hands dirty and get jobs done in a pragmatic fashion while maintaining a firm control and understanding of the commercial, quality, health & safety aspects of business.I am a strong believer in igniting a passion for engineering and personal improvement in those I interact with and I also work with a charity organisation to satisfy my own requirements for engineering ‘fun’ as well as helping to support others in the local community.
