For about a year I worked on the Meditract CLM project, a full-stack Clojure project, as a contracted senior software engineer. In addition to implementing features and bug fixes, I was responsible for assisting the product team with grooming user stories and assigning story points to that work. As a more senior member of the team, I often would be pulled into meetings regarding system architecture and long term planning for the application, as well as mentoring other members of the team as needed.

At Motivis, I had a hand in working on both their Salesforce and Cloud products, as well as a handful of professional service engagements early in my employment. On the Salesforce product, I was responsible for implementing various front-end and back-end elements of the LMS where we used an agile process to produce regular deliverables to clients as a managed Salesforce package. In addition to working with SOQL and VisualForce, I created several front-end components using Reagent for UIs with more complicated requirements. On the Cloud product I was responsible for implementing back-end features of the LMS such as data model, RESTful endpoints, and the importing, management, and reporting of data contained within the underlying PostgreSQL database. I developed tooling to help me manage the Cloud project which included a CLI tool for moving data around, a single-page application using Reagent to administer the system, and a Clojure library to easily interact with the RESTful APIs. I occasionally worked with a React.js project that was used to interact with records exposed by the API. In addition to my engineering responsibilities, I was also responsible for handling back-end service releases in coordination with Motivis’ Director of Development Operations, working with front-end developers to make sure their needs were met with regard to back-end functionality and data model, and working with support staff on a regular basis when ETL jobs needed to be created to load client data.

My duties essentially boils down to helping the Director of Technology realize the vision he or she has for the institution. It was my job to ensure that our third parties get the information they need to do their job and to take on any task geared towards extending VLACS' systems.I primarily wrote software in Clojure and PHP which typically interacted with a (or several,) PostgreSQL databases.
